In June of 2011, the State of Illinois passed the Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act. State contracts with faith-based agencies, which had historically served thousands of children, were severing their contracts with the state. Communities across central Illinois were facing a potential major service gap and loss of critical services. The founders of The Center for Youth & Family Solutions faced this crisis head-on as they incorporated a new nonprofit agency to provide these care to families and children.
