Additional Adoptive Services

The Center for Youth and Family Solutions provides a variety of other services to assist parents in expanding their families. These programs are designed to assist families who are not directly participating in the CYFS Infant Adoption Program. There are many options, so it is important for the applicant to work closely with the Adoption & Family Development Specialist to ensure a good fit between their specific situation and what services they will need. Fees will vary for all options.

Out of Agency Home Study Services

This option is for families who plan to use another agency or attorney for matching and placement. Families who choose this option will need to have chosen an approved adoption agency or adoption attorney to work with prior to the completion of the home study process as the home studies are written specially for each individual agency. The home study fee is due at the beginning of the home study process.

Requirements:

  • The family must be willing to complete a home study process with the Adoption and Family Development Specialist. This process includes training and education, criminal background checks, review of finances, character references, and a home visit.
  • The family must have a Cooperating Agency Agreement from any other adoption agency other than The Center for Youth & Family Solutions.

Once the family home study is complete and approved and the cooperating agency agreement is signed, our agency will work with the chosen agency and provide them with the necessary paperwork so the family can be circulated for adoptive placements.

This option can include additional cost if post placement visits are required after placement of the child in the family home. Families in this program are required to pay for yearly updates and any costs associated with inter-state services.

Attorney-Referred Home Study Services

This option is for families working with an attorney after being placed with a child. The home study is written specially for the child(ren) being adopted. The home study fee is due at the beginning of the home study process.

Requirements:

  • The family must be willing to complete a home study process with the Adoption and Family Development Specialist. This process includes training and education, criminal background checks, review of finances, character references and home visit.

CYFS will complete a home study for the family and provide the attorney with a home study / report of investigation attesting to the family’s ability to adopt said child(ren). This option can include additional cost if post placement visits are required.

Outreach Options for Participating in the Infant Agency Assisted Program

Outreach Option 1

This option is most beneficial to families who are licensed through another agency and have an adoption home study in place. In this program, a participant’s profile and video presentation will only be shown to CYFS birth parents if there are no other prospective adoptive families that match their criteria in our current pool of CYFS families.

Requirements:

  • Approved adoption home study (within one year). If the home study is older than one year, an update will be required
  • Cooperating Agency Agreement from the Adoptive Home Study Agency
  • Meet all requirements listed in The Center for Youth & Family Solutions Infant Adoption Program

Outreach Option 1 Fee will be used to review the current home study to determine its eligibility and to perform an assessment,  informational update, and case management until identified by a birthparent. Additional fees will reflect the specific situation and will be assessed by the Adoption Supervisor.

Outreach Option 2

Families sometimes desire to move from a foster family home to an adoptive home. This program is most beneficial for families who are licensed foster parents through CYFS or another agency but not for the purpose of adoption. This option requires adoption parent training and a home study to be completed by the CYFS Adoption & Family Development Specialist. Once an adoption home study is completed, a participant’s profile and video presentation will be shared with birth parents contemplating adoption if there are no prospective adoptive families that match their criteria in our current pool of families.

Requirements:

  • Approved Foster Care Licensing Home Study through either CYFS or another Licensed Child Welfare Agency (current within one year)
  • Cooperating Agency Agreement from any Foster Care Licensing Home Study agency other than The Center for Youth & Family Solutions
  • Meet all requirements listed in The Center for Youth and Family Solutions Infant Adoption Program

Outreach Option II fee will be used to review the current home study to determine its eligibility and to perform an assessment, an informational update, and case management until identified by a birth parent. From this point, fees will reflect the specific situation and will be assessed by your adoption specialist.

Options for Participants Contacted by Birth Parents Not Affiliated with CYFS

Participants in our additional programs may also be contacted by a birth parent that is not affiliated with CYFS. In these events, CYFS Pregnancy Planning and Family Counselors can provide services to the birth parent, including counseling, support, surrender services, placement services, and post-adoption services. The Adoption & Family Development Specialist will then provide pre-adoptive counseling to the prospective adoptive parents as well as post adoption services, including reports to the court for the purpose of finalization. Specific fees will be determined based on services required.

Surrogacy Services

CYFS can provide information and education on the surrogacy option. CYFS partners with another agency to provide the matching and surrogate process. For more information on Surrogacy Services contact a CYFS Adoption & Family Development Specialist.
